In spring 2016, 3 internationally renowned harpists representing 3 generations will hold a harp masterclass / Harp Academy at the Künstlerhaus Boswil. David Watkins was principal harpist at Covent Garden Royal Opera House and with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is a distinguished composer for his instrument. Naoko Yoshino Being is regarded one of the most outstanding harpists in the international platform today: Her solo engagements include the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Gewandhaus Orchestra, Tonhalle Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra under conductors Yehudi Menuhin, Seiji Ozawa, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Zubin Mehta and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. The young Russian harpist Alexander Boldachev is the winner of many international competitions for harp and composition and gives concerts and master classes in Europe, Asia and America, complementing his harp repertoire with his own works and transcriptions for harp.

The master class is designed for advanced students. Active participants will have individual lessons with each of the 3 teachers. The individual lessons will be complemented by group lessons focussing on repertoire and technique. The course will be concluded with a final concert including the participants and their teachers. The students are asked to prepare pieces of the standard harp repertoire, including at least one composition by David Watkins (list and informations about these pieces available from the masterclass website)

Beginning of the masterclass: Tuesday, 8 March, 18.00 Uhr (Arrival from 16.00 h)
End of the masterclass: Final concert, Sunday 13 March, 17.00 Uhr
Fees: 
Active participants (limited to max. 15): CHF 720.-, including full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and lodging at the Künstlerhaus Boswil, Ort der Musik. For students under the age of 20, the fee is CHF 600.-.
Auditors: CHF 70.- per day or CHF 250.- for the complete course (5 days), including lunch.
Registration deadline: 9 February, 2016.
Registration fee: Participants must pay a non refundable registration fee of CHF 200.- that will be deducted from the fee.
